Famous Motivational Quotes About Happiness

According to happiness researchers, one of the quickest ways to boost your mood is smiling. In fact, it’s been shown that genuine smiles are contagious—when you smile, people will respond with a smile of their own. Aside from improving your mood and giving you an excuse for more cuddles (or a date night), research has also shown that smiling helps reduce physical pain. When someone smiles, others view them as warm and trustworthy (which makes sense—you wouldn’t trust someone who looked grumpy all day long).

In fact, at least one study suggests that employers may make better decisions when they have positive employees around. To feel happier right now—and see others react in kind—try cracking a grin. You might just be surprised by how much good it does.

If smiling isn’t exactly your thing, however, there are other things you can do. Many experts recommend trying out some gratitude journaling—writing down three things every day that made you happy or even something small to be grateful for during each hour of every day.

Another popular suggestion is focusing on what you have rather than what’s missing. Instead of looking at what extra money or time would allow you to buy, try spending more time appreciating what little things already bring joy into your life and increasing those sources instead (such as extra time spent with friends or working on hobbies).

There are plenty of reasons why we should all focus on feeling happier and more optimistic anyway! So no matter where you start from, it’s always worth investing in yourself.
